NO ORDINARY DAYS
John McKenna

This is the story of an accidental journey through a million years of time

This is the story of a love that could never die

There's a fairy in the glen, There’s a sad eyed mistress looking to the road again

There's a twinkle in her eye for a blue-eyed stranger laying by the roadside

There's a fairy in the glen, and a sad eyed princess crying into sunset

With a tremble in her heart for she's been waiting such a long long time

since they drifted apart

You see I fell into a sleep, trapped by dreams that bound me to the book of lost beliefs

That took me down the road so far away from the place I called my home today

I rode a steed of purest white with a horn of gold and a fire in his eyes that spoke delight

He looked at me and said, don’t be afraid of the man in the myriad disguises

Who I met upon the path and he gave to me a million sunsets

And I rode upon his words, till I came to a hall, to the hall of an ancient stillness

And he told me of the night and the winds that blew the cold light through the astral wilderness

There are no ordinary days, for the man who’s lost his way and fallen through the ages

there are no ordinary times for sittin' drinkin' down the wine when you’ve fallen off the pages of the book of life, there are no ordinary days

THE GREAT DIVIDE
John McKenna

Segue 2

She approached the stranger with a trembling heart, hoping against hope that indeed it was he, her beloved returned once again, she whispered to herself; yes indeed it did seem to be him, returned once again, similar yet profoundly changed, not quite human.

And there were no words to describe what he had become… there was a profound peace upon him and a brilliant light shone through his eyes; and he spoke in a strange tongue, single sentences that unfolded out into profound messages.

His voice was silken, yet fiery with passion as he spoke of his journey and the things which had changed him so.

Once upon a lonely night while searching through an ancient house I chanced to find a secret room and there I found the map.

It danced in many colors came alive within my hands, it promised me a journey out away from ports of land and out beyond the great divide, you only have your self and dreams you cannot hide. The art of dying changes you so just enjoy the ride. I screamed I feel, therefore I am real; beyond the great divide.

The scenery was changing as I walked into a picture that I painted out of memories I was cast in through a door. A herald brings me choices as he leads me to an altar where I pray my spirit finds a voice and shelter from this storm.

Here lie so many broken rhymes that lived behind my eyes that never fit the line, and when no one else was listening to the sound it brought me down down down upon my knees, and free to fly again beyond the great divide,

PINK AND BLUE SKIES
John McKenna

Segue 3

And I learned many strange and wonderful things though my terror was great. I met my demons those who were my initiators, and when I realized I could not prevail against them I opened to them and disappeared the world in which they dwelt. And all my fears emptied out into an explosion of light like unto that which my human eyes could not contain. And I found my way into that profound peace that resides in the sunset as I looked upon the pink and blue sky.

I didn't have a reason to run or a reason to hide; I only had a season to live and a season to die. I didn't have enough of the love that I needed to give to lift myself out of the world to learn how to live.

And then my demon stood before me he said I heard your spirit call me. And then everything under the sun emptied out into light, everything opening up into pink and blue skies.

Believe in your self, believe in your love and everything happens Believe in your dreams believe you can fly and you will be free

Believe you can reach the pink and blue skies and everything happens, though you cannot understand the plan from down here on the land behold your freedom

I didn't have answers to questions I'd made with my eyes; I always had wanted to travel the gateways of light.

I've taken my chances and run with the dancers at night. I knew that the last path I'd choose would lift me to light. And then my demon stood before me he said I heard your spirit call me. And then everything under the sun emptied out into light, everything opening up into pink and blue skies.

Believe in your self, believe in your love and everything happens. Believe in your dreams believe you can fly and you will be free. Believe you can reach the pink and blue skies and everything happens, Though you'll never understand the ways of the world, you're gonna break free.

Learning to live, learning to give, learning to fly. Learning to reach right out of the world into pink and blue skies. Learning to live, learning to give, learning to try.  Learning to reach right out of your mind into pink and blue skies.

Pink and blue skies. Learning to fly. Learning to reach right out of the world to pink and blue skies.

THE INTERLUDE
John McKenna

 Segue 4

And I met a great sage who shifted from form to form as we walked. He taught me the fire meditation of the sunset world. He introduced me to the mists of my ceaseless desire. He taught me of the night that descends on the pleasure seeker who runs with the dancers.

And he left me barren, lost in the mist and fog, to find my own way home. If only I could learn the magic of the space between my thoughts. He taught me the sacred OM and invited me into the interlude.

I walked upon a path, and I held the hand of Father Time. He looked at me and laughed
and he gave me everything that was on my mind. He disappeared into the mist, I held my breath

and there I found the interlude.

Once I had a love that could break the heart of any poet I couldn't get enough, It was done before I even knew it. She disappeared into the mist, I held my breath and there I found the interlude.

Beyond the waves between the night and day there is a place where magic is wrought In the silence of the interlude.

Beyond all pain between the breaths you take there is a place where magic is wrought In the silence of the interlude

Between the waves and the words that people say there is a place where magic is taught, In the silence the interlude

 WHAT I BELIEVE
John McKenna

 Segue 5

Upon emerging from the mist of astral wilderness I began to realize the cause of all human suffering is nothing more than belief. And as I sat so lost in the forest I began to see that whatsoever we choose to believe seems to appear, and then it chains us to the wheel of desire and the round of endless births. And whatsoever you choose to believe, that you will see. So choose you now to look upon a world forgiven and you will drop your chains and stand free.

I heard the whisper in the forest, I learned the secret of the trees, I heard the voice of every tale that ever sounded in the vale that spoke to me of living out of what I could be

What I believe I see   What I believe is free but I pay my price in choosing what I want this world to be what I want this world to be,  what I want this world to be

Can you hear the subtle voice that comes on you to make a choice? Will you be responsible for all the words you utter when you mutter in  your sleep?

What you believe you'll speak    What you believe will be   What you believe you will see coming down around you tying you in knots making you a prisoner of the words that hide your thoughts

They’re whispering to you

I heard the whisper in the forest ( they’re whispering to you, the thoughts you think are what you see do you believe they’re true) I learned the secret of the wind standing there in silence back where I could see again I heard the conversation that has given me my chains I made them fall I crumbled walls I stood inside the rain

For what I believe I see   What I believe  is free but I pay my price in choosing what I want this world to bewhat I want this world to be, what I want this world to be

What I believe I see  Wasn't meant for eyes to hide behind the bitter lies it's true What I believe is in you and I believe is in me  What I believe is true what I believe I see what I believe I see

BEYOND THE GREAT DIVIDE
John McKenna

 Segue 6

And as I emerged from the torment of facing my beliefs and seeing them manifest as real, I was left with nothing, no ground to stand upon, no stories of my life, no past and no future. And having gone beyond heaven and hell, I finally passed beyond the great dividing wall. Gone Gone, Gone beyond, gone completely beyond Awake. So be it. Beyond the great divide.

There are so many ways so many ways so many ways to see. So many ways to face the world that you believe that you believe are real.  So many ways to live your life don't be deceived don't be deceived don't be deceived.

Many find the tears that blind are feelings to express, like sunset always stealing time and running to the west. I feel therefore I am real, though broken on the wheel I'm free to fly again beyond the great divide.

Out beyond the great divide Out beyond the great divide Out beyond the great divide Out beyond the great divide

Out beyond the great divide Out beyond the great divide Out beyond the great divide Out beyond the great divide

Out beyond the great divide you can learn to fly you can learn to fly. Out beyond the great divide Out beyond the great divide Out beyond the great divide Out beyond the great divide.

WHEN YOU BREAK
John McKenna

Segue 7

And then I saw her face. likened unto an image seen through a window in the rain. In that midnight wind on that lonely road I thought of her again and I did break and my heart did ache and my tears did finally fill that vast and empty place where I had been led by the Magi.

And when you break  and your heart aches  remember I have lost mine too  And when you fall and when you call  and when you need someone to lean on true

Then I'll be there though years may pass between the calling and the love that comes for you at last   Living with this emptiness looking for the light

And if I see you on the road I will tell you that I love you from such a time ago And when I see you in my dreams I remember what its like to be lost and in between  this world and love, my heart and fear  And all the pain of too much tenderness so dear to me because I've paid the cost

of letting love take down my walls

And when I see you in my dreams I will tell you that I love you  from somewhere in between the worlds

and when I see you in my mind I'm hoping you will know that one day I will find a way to  give you love so you know I care, I'll see you free  to see me standing there

beyond this world in a brilliant light with a song of love to end your dream of night

And when you  cry or say goodbye  I'll be there to warm your nights And when you  feel  it's all just a little bit too real I'll be there to waken you from dreams that steal

your heart away oh when you break   just remember  I am broken too And when you break, when you break, when you break

And when you break and your heart aches remember I have lost mine too

THE HOWLING SILENCE
John McKenna

 Segue 8

And again my steed of white returned and he bore me high above the Earth, where the silence screamed and howled like a high wind like the wail of the Banshee. And he had me look upon the healing of the Earth as the people learned to cherish the little ones the elemental lives that create the land he had me look upon the healing of the Earth as I listened to the howling silence.

Can you hear the voice of a friend, in the howling silence of the wind as it tears at your need to pretend, it lets your soul come in again.

All alone in a vision dream, tomorrow is the thing you see believing into a passageway up to the stars looking too far.

Escaping out of the daily grind, looking at places you hid in your mind, moving past faces you're leaving behind on your journey still you wander.

Can you hear the voice of a friend, in the howling silence of the wind as it tears at your need to pretend, it lets your soul come in again.

Can you see over the window sill, are you free from what you believe in still, Can you see what will deceive you, can you be all of the things you can conceive of.

And the howling silence of the wind, draws the hour of violence to an end

and the power of silence descends and the world embraces peace and the people love the land

and the howling silence of the wind becomes a healing.

REFLECTING IN THE MOONLIGHT
John McKenna

 Segue 9

And then I found myself in a field, a field silver with twisting rays of moonlight. And I knew that I was weaving the  tapestry of my future lives with every thought that crossed my mind. And the ones that I held became threads which bound me to Earth and Earth to me and those threads became the fabric of my life. And I remembered all my past lives and the million miles I had traveled, hopelessly wandering between the worlds. And I was asked to take a name and I was asked to heal. And I was asked to notice my changes and realize I’d become able to feel, able to feel everything. And I was a long way from home, reflecting in that silver moonlight.

The grass is never greener on the other side of midnight, where pastures of silver reflect a twisting moonlight, A lone figure is seen weaving a dream, strands of which extend forever into time yet unborn.

Reflecting in the moonlight sits another tired angel, reflecting on a past life when he came as many strangers

reflecting in the moonlight and a long long way from home

Two birds fly across an empty sky and their sad sad song brings a tear to my eye

tell me of those distances, tell me of the changeling,  were you there to visit him, were you at the naming

Reflecting in the moonlight sits another tired savior, reflecting on millennium of human fears and failures

reflecting in the moonlight and a long long way from home reflecting in the moonlight and a long long way from home

such a long long way, such a long long way, such a long long way

Sometimes I feel like a motherless child and a long long way from home

Sometimes I feel I’ve walked a million miles such a long long way from home

I know you hear the call of an ancient voice, I know when you were small you couldn't run with the other boys

I know where you been tonight, I know that you been outside,
howling in the wind reflecting in the moonlight and a long long way from home

Such a long long way from home. Such a long way from home

WALK THE WORLD IN WONDER
John McKenna

Segue 10

And I sang  out in the vast silence, and a war suddenly drew to a close and they listened. And it was given to me to know the healing power of a word spoken from the emptiness of truth, spoken from the heart.

And the angels sang and the queen of all the Fairies approached me through a valley of sun drenched golden flowers, and she gave unto me the wonder of my childhood, the wonder so long lost as a man. And she set me free and commanded me to walk the world in wonder.

And to gaze into the heavens and to look upon my innocence and the innocence of all people and see.

Hear me singing in the silence, through the chains that bound the children of the sun. I hear you screaming in the violence, when you hear this you will know we all are one.

Hear me singing  to the light behind your eyes, the dream child has escaped the chains that bind you.

Hear me... hear me  for when your life is fading you will hear what I've been saying and waken to the changes you can make.

For when your life is  falling you will hear a voice that's calling you to waken to receive the light of day.

And you are free to live the way you wanted so to be, to walk the world you wanted to believe in

And you can walk the world in wonder, gaze into the heavens, raise your eyes in innocence and see...

You are free You are free You are free

Hear angels singing through the myriad dancing lights across the barren wasteland see the love within her eyes. See her walking through the valley of the sun the flowers raise their heads to greet this chosen one.

Hear me... hear me  for when your life is fading you will hear what I've been saying and waken to the changes you can make, for when your life is  falling you will hear a voice that's calling you to waken to receive the light of day.

And you are free, To live the way you wanted so to be, To walk the world you wanted to believe in.

And you can walk the world in wonder, gaze into the heavens, raise your eyes in innocence and see

You are free.
